Nationale Opsporingslijst
The Nationale Opsporingslijst (English: National Detectionlist) is a Dutch most wanted list maintained by the Korps landelijke politiediensten. Individuals on the list can either be suspects or irrevocably convicted of certain crimes. Individuals are generally only removed from the list if the fugitive is captured, dies, or if the charges against them are dropped. Newly added fugitives normally get announced in Opsporing Verzocht, a television program that aims to solve crimes.
The Dutch Public Prosecution Service (Dutch:Openbaar Ministerie) has set different criteria for placement on the list for suspects and convicted individuals. With the criteria for suspects being more strict than those of convicted individuals. However, for both categories there are the two criteria of the criminal act bearing a possible punishment of eight years of jail or higher, and that other ways of capture besides the Nationale Opsporingslijst are deemed unlikely to succeed.〔 (Nationale Opsporingslijst vanavond gepubliceerd ), 5 Januari 2010〕
